A Building Solution to Match Today’s Business Pace
Lerdahl Business Interiors partners with companies to create innovative, flexible spaces with solutions that have a faster speed-to-market.
There’s no denying the pace of businesses has increased over the last decade. If you ask the bosses of any big American company what is changing their business, odds are they’ll say speed. Prominent leaders, such as GE CEO Jeff Immelt and Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt, have pointed to speed as the key to innovation and adapting to change.
In today’s 21st-century workplace, organizations need the human capital and resources to keep up and adapt—any lag in time can lead to loss of profits, competitive advantages and employees. Thus, when an interior project like an office re-build, renovation or relocation is needed, it must be completed quickly and efficiently to keep operations running as smoothly as possible.
The solution for many organizations is DIRTT, a leading technology-driven manufacturer of highly customized interior construction.
“DIRTT allows companies to build the perfect interior space for what they need now––and whatever the future brings,” said Karyn Biller, FMP and DIRTT Champion at Lerdahl Business Interiors. “The technology and prefab construction are designed to provide faster move-in times and respond to needs for any place, from healthcare to school or office to hospitality.”
Benefits of DIRTT
Regardless of the scale and scope, Lerdahl and DIRTT give companies certainty and transparency through an interactive, virtual-reality experience that allows leaders to know exactly what they’ll get. This in turn results in less labor, shorter schedules and faster move-ins.
Integrated project delivery with a stakeholder-centric design
Biller worked with Group Health Cooperative (GHC) to develop a new state-of-the-art primary care clinic at its Madison College location. And it needed to get done quickly; Lerdahl had less than three months to finish the 4,100-square-foot space, meaning conventional construction would not meet GHC’s demands or timeframe.
DIRTT’s ICE® intelligent software platform ensured that every inch of the layout was thought through and utilized as many functional design features as possible to craft an efficient, flexible, innovative space. Moreover, 3D flythrough allowed GHC and Lerdahl to make changes throughout the design process, ensuring the project was built exactly as GHC wanted it.
Fast, cost-compelling construction
The upfront design allowed GHC to understand project costs down to the penny. The immediate design and costing feedback ensured that customized prefabricated materials and architectural finishes were shipped in two- to three-week lead times upon design approval. With shorter lead times, Lerdahl’s certified installers executed the project against the rigid schedule and had the on-campus clinic able to open its doors on schedule. The faster speed-to-market meant cost savings from capital and operational standpoints for GHC.
Immediate results and ongoing adaptability
The seamless process ensures the space is ready for employees to make a direct impact. The GHC Madison College clinic allowed staff to achieve the unique team-based culture they seek to achieve, and to deliver care more effectively than at traditionally built clinics. Coined the “crown jewel” of GHC locations, patients and visitors often comment the space feels larger than it actually is and that it doesn’t feel like a clinic.
Biller concludes, “To sum it up, we’re focused on building spaces that match a company’s mission through innovation, high quality and speed.”
