A View from Above
Tri-State Commercial Roofing Corp. delivers a perfect combination of quality and service
“We may not be the largest fish in the pond, but people know when we’re swimming with them.” – Stuart Roberts, Owner, Tri-State Commercial Roofing Corp.
A History of Integrity
Stuart Roberts began his business with the goal of delivering complete customer satisfaction, which has led to the creation of many decades’ long relationships with building owners, property managers and general contractors throughout the northeast. Stu, together with his wife and co-owner, Amy Roberts, correctly determined many years ago that providing the proper combination of client support, analytical problem-solving and precise plan execution would propel Tri-State Commercial Roofing Corp. (Tri-State) to where they are today. What Stu started 35 years ago has evolved through hard work and perseverance into one of the largest commercial roofing companies in the tri-state area.
Growth Through Change
Every project Tri-State enters into is an opportunity to learn and grow, something Stu takes very seriously as he is routinely at the office late, scouring product updates, manufacturers’ press releases and the day’s project reports. Those hours of research have honed Stu’s ability to see a potential issue long before it becomes a last-minute field modification. This level of detail-oriented thinking is part of what has created the demand for Stu’s attention and Tri-State’s services. Stuart is also the definition of a true working owner and is regularly surprising Tri-State’s clientele with his presence on their roofs. The time spent on the roof has afforded Stu with some spectacular views, but more importantly, it has given him a real-time view of the evolution of the industry he loves.
As this industry changes with regard to products and applications, so too does its rules and regulations; to stay relevant and compliant, Tri-State is constantly updating employee safety training. All of Tri-State’s employees carry OSHA 30-40 (62 for supervisors) certifications. As Stu declares, “It just makes more sense to be ahead of employee safety; we are a family here at Tri-State, and family protects each other.” With the lowest possible NYSIF Workers’ Comp Experience Mod and the most comprehensive general liability (GL) and umbrella insurances, Tri-State also ensures that its clientele feels safe.
Tri-State, which is located in Rockland County and serves the tri-state area, has not only built relationships that have endured for decades with some of the largest owners of commercial real estate, but also with the largest manufacturers of commercial roof systems in the world. Tri-State is certified by Carlisle, Firestone, Soprema, Sika Sarnafil, Johns Manville, GAF, Versico, Duro-Last, Garland, Tremco and more. Recently, Tri-State was awarded with Carlisle’s FleeceBack Champions award, an honor that Stu is pleased to have received. “Although we have excelled in the single-ply membrane arena, it is imperative for our continued success that we be well versed in all aspects of commercial roofing. We offer our clients everything from EPDM, TPO and PVC to coatings, liquid-applied membranes and modified bitumens, dependent on which system best suits a project’s particular circumstances and budgetary concerns.”
As Stu enters his fourth decade in the business, neither he nor Tri-State shows any signs of slowing down. While the company continues to expand its footprint on the commercial scene, Stu’s personal commitment to the quality of Tri-State’s work has always remained the cornerstone of their model. Amy adds, “We have seen too many companies go wrong when they grow unchecked at the expense of quality.”
Stu concludes, “When I think of my legacy and that of Tri-State’s, I believe it will be that we created trusting and lasting relationships with everyone we’ve dealt with and that we’ve always exceeded their expectations.”
