Commercial Roofing Done Right
Combining affordability with excellent craftsmanship, Cross Timbers Roofing is the go-to expert for commercial roofing work
Spanning nearly three decades in business, Cross Timbers Roofing (CTR), founded in 1991, has set the standard for high-quality roofing work throughout the Richmond area and beyond. Initially founded as a roofing contractor primarily focused on new construction home building and residential reroofing, the company continues to reach new heights as it veers more and more towards the complexities of commercial projects.
This shift really took hold when Chuck Glady stepped in as the owner of CTR in 2011 with a vision for increasing commercial work, which has tripled during Glady’s tenure. These gains, according to Glady, can be attributed to improvements in quality and craftsmanship of the work being completed and to CTR’s continued commitment to providing the owner of each project the best roofing system for their structure that will last for years. “When I came on board,” he says, “I set out to improve the labor force that I had here on staff, which in turn enhanced the overall company and our reputation in the region.”
Glady, who has been in the roofing industry since 1988, affirms that Cross Timbers Roofing is the place to call for all commercial roofing repairs, maintenance and new construction. “CTR’s client-centric approach ensures affordability combined with excellent craftsmanship as well as unrivaled customer service,” he says. With our office centrally located in Richmond, we are able to easily service the area from Charlottesville to Richmond to Hampton Roads. Regardless of location, Cross Timbers Roofing provides reliable service and uses quality materials for all its customers.
The CTR commercial management team has over 150 years of combined knowledge in the market. Glady says, “We focus on providing the best possible roof for the customer, specifically the end user. Our ‘customer’ may be the general contractor, but I focus on making sure that the owner of the project is getting the best possible roof system that they can within the parameters that are set forth in the specifications.”
Roofers with Range
Although able to handle just about any type of roofing, CTR does focus mostly on single-ply for flat roofing, standing seam metal, asphalt shingles, slate and shake for steep slope roofing.
Commercial projects run the gamut, from schools, libraries and houses of worship to the transportation sector, restaurants, healthcare facilities and multi-family housing units. CTR is currently working on a brand new elementary school for the City of Richmond. They’ve also done other high-profile projects, including a large historical renovation project of the old GRTC bus depot, which was 600 squares of slate removal, salvage and then a supplement of new slate plus another 600 squares of TPO roofing to go with it.
Glady adds, “We can do anything in the commercial sector. We’ve done many, many apartment complexes, whether it be new construction or reroofing existing complexes. We also do a lot of work for VDOT, including new buildings they’re constructing, as well as rest area renovations where roofing work is needed. We’ve done a lot of fire stations and libraries, too. In fact, we’re working on a new library in Hanover County right now.”
A Community Spirit
Cross Timbers Roofing is also deeply involved in the community, donating a few roofs every year to those in need. They’ve donated to Habitat for Humanity, the No Roof Left Behind project and to St. Jude House. Glady shares that this past year, there was a family that for 30+ years has done an amazing Christmas light display, a spectacle that has drawn millions of people over time.
He says, “This family has brought so much joy to the Richmond community with their light display and they were in need of a roof. We reached out to the owner of the property, and he explained the situation and all the thousands of dollars they put into their display, not to mention the complimentary beverages that they give out during the holiday season. So, it just felt like the right thing to do to give this family a new roof so they could have a worry-free, leak-proof roof over their heads. It just felt like a time to pay back to them.”
All in all, Cross Timbers Roofing remains committed to providing the region with the highest quality roofing services to fulfill Chuck Glady’s vision. He concludes, “I try to live up to our primary mission, which is to inform, educate and earn the trust of all of our customers.”
