“Will Fly for Food”
For Parker, the secret to Propeller-heads’ success lies in being passionate about what you do while also working harder than the other guy. For this retired U.S. Air Force Technical Sergeant with a laid-back yet can-do attitude, his passion has always been visual storytelling—explaining the world we live in through imagery. From his 13 years as a bomb leader in the Air Force and then having cross-trained into public affairs, he says, “I learned a lot about who I am by telling the amazing stories of other people.” Parker eventually parlayed his passions for photography, technology and flying to create a business that truly speaks to who he is as a creative and as an entrepreneur. In the end, he loves what he does, and thinks any day out flying is one well spent. Having combined his unique skill sets into a thriving business, Parker jokes, “Our motto is ‘we’ll fly for food.’ ”

The company has spent years honing the specialized aerial missions of high-risk, interior, close proximity, and/or closed area operations using advanced robotic platforms. Its crew works closely with clients to provide creative and technical perfection in everything from staged portraits to industrial inspections of high-demand/high-risk environments. Allowing resources to be dedicated to areas identified using their drones. In addition to industrial and building inspections, Propellerheads expert team provides full video production services for commercials and cinema, automobile marketing, real estate, narrative, commercial realty, time lapse construction progress updates and commercial photography.
Parker explains, “We tend to basically adapt the most convenient technology to the most difficult solutions. If it flies or is remote controlled, I want to use it to get the shot people thought was impossible. It’s been amazing the last two years, watching this community explode. I don’t want to be an industrialist. I want to be an expert creative that helps clients explain the unique aspects of their specialized job. I’m mostly focused on using advanced technology to tell complex stories. That said, it is applied with the skillset of a professional pilot. I am a professional drone pilot—but in my heart, I am also a visual communicator who uses technology to do it.” Propellerheads can also assist companies set up their own in-house drone program, everything from equipment to education. Additionally, Propellerheads Aerial Photography offers sUAS (Small Unmanned Aircraft System) subject matter speakers, live educational demonstrations and consulting.
Embracing Passion and Dedication
Parker proudly captures how he feels about what he’s doing and what he’s been able to accomplish. He says, “We are changing the world with this new technology, and it is getting better every single day. I am where I am in my world today because of a combination of insatiable curiosity and an inability to get kicked down when someone says ‘that’s not going to work.’ It comes from an embrace of my own geekiness, and of the fact that ‘nerd’ is a good word—and then there’s this desire to see more. One constant struggle as a visual creator is to show people a different perspective—to get higher, to get lower, to get inside something. I strive to give people a perspective they’ve never seen before. The drone was the ultimate expression of that for me.”
He sums up his philosophy, sharing, “Master what moves you, whatever your passion is. You have to keep working on it and never give up, no matter what. Passion gets you into the field but dedication keeps you flying. You’ve got to do it every day or somebody else will sneak up behind you and eat your lunch.”
