Mix Concrete at the Push of a Button
Alpha-Omega Concrete Solutions changes the game with zero waste volumetric concrete delivery
Alpha-Omega Concrete Solutions, LLC, a newcomer to the Denver market, is introducing new concrete trucks and delivery methods to the Central Denver and Metro market. The company, which opened its doors this past October, hit the ground running, bringing a time- and money-saving technology into the mix—state-of-the-art volumetric concrete mixers to provide on-demand concrete to all segments of the construction industry.
With Alpha-Omega’s Cemen Tech volumetric mixer trucks—as opposed to traditional drum or barrel trucks—jobs are custom-mixed on-site, which means that the concrete is always fresh and customers only pay for actual usage. The unique delivery system not only eliminates downtime when waiting for traditional barrel truck mixer systems but means clients no longer have to pay for short loads or overages.
Alpha-Omega is the brainchild of partners Joe Powers, CEO and Steve Harry, President. Joe also owns Denver-based Powers Construction, a family-owned construction firm in business for nearly 40 years. With Joe’s construction background and Steve’s passion for technology and innovation— acquired during his 20 years working in the telecommunications/technology industry—the union is a perfect match.
Steve shares the numerous advantages their company can offer. He says, “Alpha-Omega’s concrete production solutions utilize volumetric technology, which means each pour is exactly the design mix you need, the specific quantity, when you need it. Volumetric mixing is less costly, more time efficient, more versatile and a better return on investment when compared with traditional drum mixing. Alpha-Omega’s volumetric mixing means you have less waste, more flexibility, and have total control of your concrete.” All of the material is separated onboard the truck, mixed at the back of the truck and then the team discharges it, literally with the push of a button. In fact, Alpha-Omega’s trucks are completely automated, which was the main reason Joe and Steve selected the Cemen Tech mixers for their company. The concrete is just as if it is out of a barrel truck—except it’s mixed fresh on-site every time. You never get a hot load.
Steve says, “We can pour multiple mix designs on a single site with a single truck. So, if somebody needs sidewalks at 3,500 PSI and they need footers at 4,500 PSI, we can place both on-site with a single truck, on a single trip—with a simple change in our control panel at the back of the truck. It’s a real digital disruptor. Plus, there’s zero waste. We never mix more than we need. As our company slogan states, ‘we can deliver half a yard or a thousand yards.’ ”
What’s more, the technology has evolved even from a few months ago with the beta testing of Cemen Tech’s latest product, ACCU-POUR™. Whereas initially, the mix designs would be loaded into the truck and all the driver has to do is go back and select, Steve explains that this new system from Cemen Tech takes it to the next level of automation. “Essentially, ACCU-POUR would allow me, in the office, to get a customer order and then push that customer information into a cloud-based system that sends that information to the control panel on the truck. So now, all the driver has to do is show up on the job. He has notes that tell him who his contact is. He opens a ticket, confirms the order and starts to pour. Material utilization for a particular job is pushed back to the cloud from the truck and is instantaneously accessible back at the home office. We see this as a huge advantage for us, but even more so for our customers. All pours are now available for any future jobs or questions that may arise from a specific pour.”
Serving Community and Customers
With an expressed dedication to the city of Denver, Joe and Steve are enthusiastic about supporting local endeavors, such as the National Western Stock Show and their kids’ school (their sons are best friends) by donating concrete. “We had some limited involvement this year since we’re just getting started,” Steve says, “but our community commitments will expand as our company expands.”
Joe and Steve take a long-term view of where Alpha-Omega is headed and what they need to do to succeed. Steve says, “Our goal is really to deliver the highest quality fresh concrete and provide the customer with a desire to continue and expand their relationship with Alpha-Omega. We want to serve our customers. I think everybody says this, and it’s easy to say but tough to deliver on—we’re very customer focused. We stick to our commitments.”
