Owner’s entrepreneurial spirit propels Jireh Sales to success in the masonry and landscape materials supply business
Jireh Sales LLC, based in Appleton, Wisconsin, is an independent masonry and landscape materials supplier, specializing in natural stone, manufactured stone, clay brick and cast stone. Jireh Sales has a presence across the whole Midwest, with an emphasis on the state of Wisconsin, having supplied projects in all the major Wisconsin markets. What makes the company so unique is it is truly a one-man show, owned and operated by its dedicated founder, Jason Demler.
Before starting Jireh Sales in June 2013, Jason had spent almost 11 years at a large company in brick, block, stone and landscape sales. Armed with an entrepreneurial spirit and recognizing a niche marketplace opportunity for a more mobile supplier, he left to make a go of things on his own to better provide for his family.
Low Overhead, High Quality
While the company offers much of the same products as a typical supply yard, it can keep costs down due to low overhead, passing those savings along to customers. Jason adds, “I don’t have the overhead of the brick and mortar store or the constraints of a specific location. I can be very responsive to needs and changes to the market. Plus, I always offer the highest quality products and services. If I don’t service and sell, I don’t make a living.”
Motivated not only by financial success, Jason explains that there are other factors behind his business philosophy. “I am very much driven by my Christian faith to do the right thing. Do what’s right, not what’s easy,” he says.
Jireh Sales’ projects span everything from assisted living projects and hotels to high-end residences. Jason credits his strong knowledge of his products for the ability to serve his customers—no matter the scope of the project.
New Products Mean a Big Future
As for the future of Jireh Sales, plans are in the works for exciting new product offerings, including those from Earthworks Stone, Champlain Stone, pavers and walls from Rosetta Hardscapes, and Endicott Brick. To that end, while the Jireh business has traditionally focused more on high-end residential and smaller commercial, Jason is poised, in 2019, to shift into the bigger commercial segment, thanks in part to new partnerships with these formidable manufacturers.
Among the biggest leaps the company is taking is, in fact, that new relationship with Endicott Brick, a product line used on such projects as Lambeau Field, government buildings and big-name projects in such markets as Chicago, New York and Minneapolis. It’s a line well-known by architects. “I already have the whole state for their thin brick line. I will now also offer their full brick and pavers. It’s an unbelievable brick company to partner with, being an FBX brick plant and a Midwest manufacturer that has been making brick for 99 years; it will be a real game changer for my business,” Jason says.
Dedicated to Giving Back
Beyond his business, Jason actively gives back to the community at large, where he is very involved in his church, teaching Saturday-Sunday school in the summer and through which he recently made a mission trip to Costa Rica in order to make a difference in the world.
It is that dedication to “doing what’s right” that will continue to guide Jason and Jireh Sales into the new year and beyond.
