A Rich History
The company’s history spans more than five decades. In 1964, Mr. Allan Ward formed Guaranteed Supply Company® to supply specialty products to the construction trades. Having years of experience in the construction industry, Mr. Ward felt there was a need for a quality supplier who could promote, recommend, deliver, and service specialty items to the industry. As is true today, service to the customers was the number one priority.
After Allan passed away in 1989, his son, Kirby Ward, led the company to exceptional year after year growth by adding new product lines, employees and several branch locations in South Carolina, which solidified Guaranteed Supply as the leading contractor supply company in the Carolinas. Kirby has since retired and his sons Michael, Jason, and Scott are currently the third-generation owners of Guaranteed Supply. Michael Ward was named CEO in 2009 and has since continued the strong growth of Guaranteed Supply. JMS rebar, a subsidiary company run by Jason Ward, was formed in 2015 and has quickly become the largest independent rebar fabricator in the Carolinas. Scott Ward currently manages the cast-in-place concrete forming division.
What’s the catalyst behind the company’s longevity? As Willie Goncharow, President of Guaranteed Supply Company® explains, “It’s the drive to be successful and carry on the Guaranteed Supply legacy to the next generation. It’s a great business full of great people—from employees to customers to our vendors. Most of all, it’s fun and always evolving to inspire the next-generation, career-minded employee joining and growing with our fine company.”
The Great Differentiators
Although Guaranteed Supply is known as the leading supplier in the market, the company is still a family-owned business and its customers, employees and vendors appreciate the approachability and open communication the team has with them. Willie shares, “We are proud to sell and promote the top product lines and we have thirteen strategic locations throughout three states—North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia—to make sure our customers get the same products and service no matter where their project is.”
Guaranteed Supply maintains a very strong “customer first” strategy. While many companies say it, they actually mean it—and the leadership credits their employees with much of that success. Michael Ward, CEO, says, “The type of employees who thrive in our company are the ones who aren’t afraid to go over and above. We give our employees the autonomy to make decisions they feel are necessary to service the customers. We realize that our customers are the ones who pay our paycheck.”
With a mission of providing superior services to its customers in the construction and industrial building products market, while buying and selling quality products at minimum cost, Guaranteed Supply is able to provide maximum profits for its customers and themselves.
Willie explains, “We are proactive by getting customers and vendors involved in the project bidding process. We negotiate and work with contractors before they show up on site to make sure everything is in order during the entirety of the building process. We have built strong relationships with the best contractors in each market area, which helps us stay on top of the new projects to be built.”

Additionally, their flexibility and relationships with clients and the community allows them to make decisions quickly and manage any issues as they may arise.
An Eye to the Future
The company’s leadership team, while proud of what they’ve accomplished so far, is making a big push to attract the next generation to Guaranteed Supply, millennials in particular. Michael says, “There are a lot of 20-somethings out there who are becoming contractors and project superintendents, and we have to be able to connect with them. We are always working hard to keep up with current technology and trends in the construction industry.”
