The Blue Book Network Celebrates Westchester Green Business Certification
The Blue Book Building & Construction Network® celebrated official Westchester Green Business Certification in a ceremony that took place at their Jefferson Valley headquarters on October 3rd, 2017. Representatives from Westchester Green Business, the Westchester County Executive’s office, and The Business Council of Westchester were in attendance to celebrate this accomplishment.
“The Blue Book Network® is striving to incorporate this ongoing initiative into our culture,” explains Robb Kalmer, Manager of Facilities and Corporate Services for the Jefferson Valley company. We have formed a Green Team, created a Green Mission and are committed to reducing our environmental footprint and promoting environmental stewardship at all levels of our organization. Our goal is to minimize our impact and maximize future generations’ ability to live, work, and play in our shared natural environment, with equal access to clean air, clean water, and natural resources,” he added.
The Blue Book Network®, a 104-year-old company that became employee-owned in 2012, is one of the larger employers in Northern Westchester. With 250 employees in their headquarter buildings and another 250 located nationwide, the once family-owned company has grown significantly, serving the commercial construction industry since 1913 and consequently recognizes the importance of sustainability.
“We are delighted to be celebrating this remarkable achievement with The Blue Book Network® team, said Westchester Green Business Program Director Dani Glaser. “The Blue Book was one of the first companies to join our program and has shown incredible leadership throughout the entire certification process. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with The Blue Book team in the years ahead.”
“Congratulations to the entire team at The Blue Book Network® that worked so hard to achieve this prestigious certification,” said County Executive Robert P. Astorino. “The Blue Book is a shining example of what can be accomplished when employees at every level work together to minimize their environmental impact while increasing efficiency and improving the bottom line.”
